Heart Diagnostic on the Wheel (HDW) is an innovative mobile diagnostic service providing echocardiography and electrocardiography as well as other non-invasive cardiac tests from patients’ homes. HDW incorporates artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) into diagnostic and image processing, respectively.
Cardiac risk factors are higher in areas where it is difficult to access health care or afford prescription medications. First Nations people living in Canada have higher rates of chronic diseases and have reduced life expectancy than non-Indigenous people. Specifically, compared with non-Indigenous people, the age-standardized cardiovascular disease mortality is 30% higher for First Nations men and 76% higher for First Nations women. Similarly, seniors over the age of 65, as the age group with higher risk of cardiovascular diseases, are often restricted from echocardiography and electrocardiography procedures due to immobility reasons. Furthermore, rural and remote communities lack the necessary resources to address basic medical needs that otherwise would help lower cardiac risks.
Heart Diagnostic on the Wheel is uniquely presented with a market-mover position in Canada with a lack of integrated mobile diagnostic services specializing in echocardiography and electrocardiography. Existing providers of in-home diagnostic services are located in small clinics, e.g., Lakeview Diagnostics - Mobile Ultrasound Services that offers general ultrasound and vascular ultrasound in Pickering, ON and surrounding areas.
